076 Try Mime

Week 38:2 26th September - 3rd October

As part of the Christchurch Dance Festival I decided to give Mime ago. In the class we did everything from blow up a pretend balloon to learning the ancient art of "funny walks". Mime is really about isolating muscles and controlling these muscles (so my coordination was really tested). Then once you have this under control you then try and perform everyday tasks and add your own twist/style to them. My favourite mime I learnt was "stitching the fingers together" (I am told the kids love that one!). There was a very inspiring man there called James. James is in his late 80's and he can do the best "robot" and "stone face" I have ever seen.

Thanks to Mel for coming along for a laugh and Daniel for his great tutoring
