Or maybe it should have been random act of "stupidity". I was walking home from a meeting on Tuesday night and a middle-aged man approached me asking for money - He needed money for a gas bottle and gas because his car had broken down. He had just picked his kids up from the library at nine and he had been walking around for 40mins (The time was 9:10 and I should have clicked then that none of his story made any sense).
I thought what the hell - I will give this guy a chance. So I agreed to give him some $$$ for gas and a bottle. We then agreed on a place and time to meet the next day so he could give me the money back. (I decided if he did turn up with the money I would let him keep half of it).
Well he never showed...and I didn't get my money back. So always trust your gut feeling and never trust guys called "Michael".
