047 English Abseiling

Week 21:2 June 3rd
The challenge was to go abseiling with a twist - The twist being we had to stop halfway down and have a cup of tea. Things were going smoothly until he showed me the clips that go into the rock to hold us up (damn they were small). That helped get the heart ticking along.
After a couple of practice descents we were ready to do the English Abseil - We got halfway down and secured our ropes around our legs (this get very sore quickly as the circulation gets cut off). We then got out the Temuka pottery teapot and watched as the spout dropped off before our eyes. Luckily Mark had a back up bottle with Tea in it (pity it was cold) and a couple of Cucumber sandwiches to keep us going to the bottom.
So it was a great English adventure. Thanks to Mark at ROCK + ICE and Joel for his great camera work!
Update: I have been challenged to see if i can get an article about 'English Abseiling' published on the Internet.
Comfort: Heights and ropes!!

You're welcome! Job well done. My friend's Gran is going to be turning in her grave about her teapot though - Mark
