Week 19:2
Well I thought I was going for a mid-winter swim and boy was I wrong (never trust your flat mate) - Joel had told me to prepare to get wet and dirty but I had no idea I would be going into a small dark cave the hard way - with NO TORCH to lead me.
I am sure he must have known I am really scared of "dark enclosed spaces" so this really was a scary challenge. I just had to clear my mind and do it. The hardest part was dragging my body through a gap I couldn't see, on my stomach, covered head to toe with dirt and what I hope is water, with my hands my only guide - using them to protect my head and feel around for the very rough rock roof. When we finally got to the middle Joel turned his torch on. We were in the middle of a cave with just enough room to stand up in. I noticed an old sleeping bag and some rubbish in the corner and worked out that someone had been living in this cave - I just hoped they weren't still there.
Comfort: The fear of getting stuck in a dark, small, enclosed space.
